For the first time, ever, I’m offering a day of limited edition Christmas pajama sessions. You won’t find me offering these types of “mini” sessions often. So if you have been wanting to book a shoot with me and you are looking for a lower cost option, this might be the opportunity for you! These shorter sessions will be held on one day only and there will only be 6 spots available.

Limited Edition
Christmas Pajama Sessions
November 23, 2019

Slots will be in 30 minute increments between 10:00-1:30

Limited edition Christmas pajama sessions

What is different about these sessions?

  • The session fee is waived! (Usually $690)
  • Professional hair and makeup is not included but is available as an add on
  • Photo shoots are 20-30 minutes long
  • Special pricing! If you purchase two individual photos, you get one free. I will also have a small package available to save even more money. This special package is only available for these limited edition sessions.

Who are these sessions for?

These sessions can be scheduled for individuals (beauty or boudoir) or families.

Do we have to wear Christmas pajamas?

Although, I think a Christmas pajama session is such a fun idea, you can opt to wear something different. Just make sure your outfits go with the Christmas theme. Red, green, gold, gray, beige, and white are the best colors for this Christmas set. Pastel colors, like light pink, can go well, too, if we take out the reds in the set up. By the way, if you do wear pajamas, they don’t have to be red “Christmas” pajamas. They can be neutral colors, too. Any of the colors mentioned above would work fine.

Limited edition Christmas pajama sessions

What is the special pricing?

Photos can be purchased individually, which means you get the full size digital version of the photo, as well as a complimentary print of the photo (your choice of 5×7 or 8×10 print). Photos are $250 each. For these limited edition sessions only, if you buy two photos, you get one free!

For the highest value, consider purchasing a package of 10 photos, which includes the full size digital versions of the photos on a crystal USB drive and an heirloom quality album. The special price for this package is $1200.

Can I get professional hair and makeup services?

Professional hair and makeup services are available at an additional cost. That cost is subject to change depending on the hair and makeup artist. So please ask me about that when you book your shoot. There are only 3 slots available that will allow time for hair and makeup services, so you’ll want to grab one of those spots quickly.

What if I’m not available on November 23rd?

If the mini session day doesn’t work for you, please consider a booking full size session. Full size sessions can be booked on a day that is convenient for you and includes a more full experience compared to a mini session. Pricing will be regular pricing. The Christmas set will be available until mid-late December.

How do I book my shoot?

Spots are limited! So contact me soon to ask any questions and to book your shoot. A deposit of $250 is required to hold your spot and that deposit goes toward your photo purchase.

Muffin Top | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

boudoir photography portland oregonFrom the minute we pull in to the parking lot of Famous Dave’s BBQ, we are hooked. That amazing smell wafting in to the car, I can hardly get inside fast enough. We order our usual, a split order of chicken tenders with a side of broccoli, a side of mac and cheese, and that oh-so-amazing cornbread muffin. If you’ve ever eaten at Famous Dave’s you know that this is not just any corn bread. This is I’ve-died-and-gone-to-heaven cornbread.

The only problem with splitting a meal, like we usually do, is that we only get one cornbread muffin, which is never enough. I joked with my husband, Nate, that I wouldn’t mind splitting the muffin in half as much, if were were cutting it in such a way that I were getting the top half (cause everyone knows that the muffin top is where it’s at). So my husband, being the sweet guy that he is, gave me the top half of the muffin. Now that is love.

When I pose my clients, I pose them in a way that celebrates the parts of their body that they love and downplay the parts that they don’t love as much. If you have a sweetie, I’m sure he loves you for all your parts and will happily enjoy them all. But I totally get wanting to focus only on your favorite parts. Now that I think about it, though, “muffin tops” aren’t always a good thing. Am I right?

Sexy Kimono | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

When this Miss M said she wanted to bring kimonos instead of lingerie for her boudoir shoot, it was a new experience for me and I thought it might be a challenge to make a kimono look sexy. But it wasn’t at all. I absolutely love the draped look and how it ties in her culture as well, making the images more unique to her. They also allow for a more modest look, which is what she was going for and we pulled it off beautifuly.boudoir photography portland oregon

I asked Miss M some questions about her experience and here is what she said:

Describe your body in 5 words
aged, dull, fat, puffy, dry

What do you love about your body?
taught and functioning

Why did you want to do a photo shoot?
Although I am not happy with myself, I would miss my body in 30s when I become 50s. Thats why I wanted to have it for my memory

Why did you choose Photography by Rayleigh for your shoot?
I saw her work through my clients’. Loved how it turned out.

How did you feel as your were preparing for your shoot?
I was nervous yet I didn’t push myself to get in fit still.

Did this experience change the way you see yourself or the way you think of beauty?
I think it did. She made me feel I look good.

What does “beauty” mean to you?
Confident. Which I was losing a lot lately

boudoir photography portland oregon

What did you love about your shoot? Will you come back some day for another shoot?
I felt very comfortable in front of camera. She made me feel good to do so. I will do it again

How did you feel about being nearly naked in front of the camera?
I was so comfortable. Female photographer is one of the reason, but also her concept of this photograph fits my idea of doing this.

What was your favorite moment of the whole experience?
Getting positive feedback from photographer during the shoot 😉

How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?

boudoir photography portland oregon

“I had a GREAT experience with Rayleigh!  I met her at the women’s expo and was impressed with her portfolio.  I emailed her explaining I was interested but not sure what package I wanted to do.  She was very patient in explaining the options.  Her guideline on preparing for the shoot was very helpful and I followed it pretty closely.  Having a beauty day before the shoot added to the experience and made it even more special. Tracy, the stylist that did my hair and makeup was great as well.  I loved the studio and how girly everything was.  The photos came out better than I ever imagined – LOVE them!   I will definitely recommend her to friends and hopefully, I’ll have the chance to do this again some day. 😉 ”

Ms. P | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

Ms. P is a basketball coach and she had an amazing shoot with me. I love how we were able to get her feeling all glammed up but still incorporate her basketball to keep her personality in the shoot.

boudoir photography Portland Oregon

I asked Ms. P a few questions about her experience and this is what she had to say:

  • Why did you want to do a photo shoot?

As a gift for my husband and to help my self esteem

  • Why did you choose Photography by Rayleigh for your shoot?

I liked her pictures and the reviews by other clients. I felt like she would be able to help me feel more at ease with the process and get good pictures as a result.

  • A little anxious as well as excited

boudoir photography Portland Oregon

  • What does “beauty” mean to you?
    Feeling good about your appearance
  • Confidence, appealing

boudoir photography Portland Oregon

  • How relaxed I felt (surprisingly), how well my hair and makeup where done. I will definitely come back for another shoot – maybe something other than boudoir as well.

  • Shy, for the most part, although Rayleigh did a great job of making me feel as comfortable as possible

  • My husband’s reaction when he saw them

boudoir photography Portland Oregon

  • Great, beautiful.

  • I gave most of them to my husband who keeps them on his night stand. The “professional head shots” I am using for my business and coaching practice

  • Do it! It was a lot of fun and makes you feel great. The pictures turn out gorgeous and it will make you feel good about yourself.

boudoir photography Portland Oregon

  • Rayleigh was amazing to work with. She was very professional and quick to respond to all questions and concerns I highly recommend her..

  • Designer jeans and sky high strappy heels (okay, that’s two but they go together!)

  • Think of yourself that way – it will reflect in how you carry yourself and in your smile

Ms. E | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

I wanted to share a few photos from Ms. E’s session because I love the bright and airy feel to her photos. Pink is such a beautiful color on her and I love the way pastel colors photograph. The soft sweater gives a softness to her photos. It feels so feminine. Her makeup is stunning as well, don’t you think?

Pinterest & Your Session | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

boudoir photography portland oregon

So, you have a boudoir session coming up and you’re not quite sure what look you like best. Aside from trusting your photographer to know that she knows exactly what to do and how to make you look your absolute best, you still might want to do a little research to see what kind of look you want for your photos.

Here’s a few tips on how to use your Pinterest boards to collaborate with me (your photographer) and to inspire yourself to step out of your comfort zone!

1. If you’re not on Pinterest, get on there now! Seriously, it’s pretty awesome and there’s almost nothing you can’t find on there for inspiration and ideas….for more than just photography!

2. If you’re a Pinterest veteran. you probably know all about secret boards and how to use them, but, in case you’re not, this is a great tool from Pinterest that will help you create an inspirational board that nobody else can see unless you give them permission. When you sign on to Pinterest, you have the option to create a new board and you can make that board secret by clicking the little button (by the arrow!). You can also add me to your list once you are following me on Pinterest so that I have the ability to see what you are putting on your board. Here is my Pinterest Page. This will come in extremely handy, especially if you have difficulty explaining the style that you have in mind. I can just look at your board and see exactly what you like!

boudoir photography portland oregon
1. I would also have the ability to pin images to your board with suggestive ideas for clothing or accessories if you’d like. You can find a lot of great ideas on what type of accessories you may want to have for your session and the images link to the original post of the image, so you can most likely find out how to buy that item online!

2. Don’t forget about your hair and makeup!! I know when I go to the salon with an idea in my head for a color or style, it’s extremely hard for me to explain it to my stylist. When you use your Pinterest board, you can search for just the right style and makeup application that you want for your shoot and then your stylist can work with you to get a look similar to that for your own session.

Never underestimate the power of social media and how it can really be used to communicate with other people aside from family. Step outside your box, find something that speaks to you, that moves you, that inspires you….and go for it!!!

A Journey | Beauty Photography Portland Oregon

Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

I really admire my client, Kathy. Not only has she been successful at her weight loss goals (something I really struggle with), but she didn’t wait until she was the “perfect size” to celebrate her beauty and enjoy being a woman. As she began her weight loss journey, she decided to do a sort of “before” photo shoot. The photos would be a gift to her loving husband, but she also did them for herself, to document her looks at that time in her life and, of course, to have a fun day of pampering and to feel beautiful, no matter her size.

A year after her first shoot, Kathy came in for a second shoot to celebrate her 48 pound weight loss success and to document the next stage of her journey. Since she’s still working her way toward the finish line, she plans to come again a year after her second shoot, and I can’t wait to see how far she’s come. But for now, I’m excited to share with you the photos from her first two sessions with me.

Kathy’s first shoot –   2013

“I happened upon Rayleigh’s website and was HOOKED. Rayleigh’s website was awesome from introduction to conclusion. By the time I read through all the information and viewed the pictures I was convinced I wanted to have photos done by her. And on top of all that it was clear she catered to women of ALL sizes and was going to make sure I (as a BBW -Big Beautiful Woman) was as comfortable as possible. She did not disappoint!

I arrived at Rayleigh’s house and immediately felt comfortable. She’s a personable and lovely young woman and had a perfect set up for boudoir photography. Never once was I uncomfortable or uneasy. I brought my own clothes but she had some nice pieces in her own collection that I was welcome to use.”

“The most fabulous make up artist came in to do my make up. All I can say is that after she was done and I looked in the mirror I immediately thought “Holy Sh*t!!!” (I think I blurted that out too! LOL) The make up was incredibly beautiful and I almost started to cry happy tears. I had never felt so glamorous, EVER!

The photo shoot proceeded on schedule and in every pose I was asked to do I felt completely at ease. Rayleigh was a great coach in teaching me how to look at the camera lens to convey a sincere and ‘sexy’ look.”

Kathy’s celebration shoot – 2014

Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

After Kathy’s second shoot, I asked her a few questions.Describe your body in 5 words

Describe your body in 5 words
Soft Big Beautiful Fair Worthy

How do you feel about your body?
Sensitive, Self-conscious at times, confident in health

Do you think your age (53) affects how sexy you truly are?
At times, yes. But it’s important to get the negative thoughts out, and bring in the positive ones. Confidence is sexier than anything else.

What gets better with age?
You really start to believe in your own worth/value.

Did this experience change the way you see yourself or the way you think of beauty?
Yes, I could see in my smile a look of confidence.

What does “beauty” mean to you?
Having self confidence is a great feeling. And when you feel good, you glow/radiate a kind of beauty that isn’t just physical.

What does “sexy” mean to you?
Desirable, Admirable, Confident

What was your favorite moment of the whole experience?
There wasn’t just one. I loved the prep session with the makeup and hair stylist and the chance to chat with her and Rayleigh. And having a glass of wine while prepping was awesome, too!

How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?
I love them!

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a photo shoot?
Do it! It’s one of the most fun experiences you could do for yourself. When you see how beautiful they turn out your ego and attitude will get a boost! Drink plenty of water in the days preceding your shoot and make sure you get a good night’s rest the night before.

Anything else you want to share about your experience?
I loved the payment types Rayleigh offered.

My New Studio | Boudoir Photography Portland Oregon

I am so thrilled to be able to share some photos of my newly remodeled photography studio. My studio is in my home. I had a 519 sq ft “bonus” room upstairs that was my studio space for about 3 years. It worked great but I was feeling quite cramped and wanted some room to breath. It just so happened that on the other side of one of my studio walls, was a huge open attic space with nothing but rafters and insulation. Why the original home builders didn’t finish it off for usable space, we may never know. But I pinched pennies for 3 years to save up to turn that space in to an amazing addition to my studio. Below is the before and after photos of the extra space. We added just under 300 sq ft of space and with that space I got a 14×14 room for my hair and makeup station and two shooting sets, a small bathroom, and a huge walk in closet/dressing room to store my studio wardrobe. All of that (minus the bathroom) was crammed in to the original space which now holds two shooting sets (including a queen size bed and my poly-board backdrops and reflectors), a computer station for clients to view their photos and place their orders, a props closet, and room to breath! 2015-03-04_0028

Here is what the new space looked like to start with. The man pictured below is our contractor, Brent Wright with Wright Home Builders. He did a great job and he’s an awesome guy that we trusted and felt really comfortable with, which is important when you are shelling out all kinds of cash to someone so they can do a job you know nothing about.

photography studio portland oregon

Here is the view from my old space, looking at the hole punched in the wall to create the door between the old space and the new space.

Here are just some progress shots along the way. My dog was inspecting everything and making sure they were doing a good job. 😉

They added a 5×5 window in the side of the house. I requested a window that was high up from the floor, with a wide window sill so I could have clients sit in the window or lean up against it.

I picked out some laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators and then hired a couple of nice guys to install it for us.

Here is my amazing hubby, tediously painting stripes on the walls by my request. The stripes looks SO GOOD! But they were not easy to do, that’s for sure. We decided to do the painting ourselves to save some money. Boy was it a lot of work.

And finally….. drum roll please…….. The new space!!!!

Along the pink striped wall is my hair and makeup station. I have a salon chair which is adjustable height (so nice for the makeup artist). And I have a directors chair as a back up. I use that when I have more than one client getting hair and makeup done at the same time, such as for a mother-daughter shoot, or two friends having boudoir photos done on the same day. The door to the right leads to the new bathroom/dressing room/closet area.

The blue couch area is a set used for photography. But it’s also nice to have extra seating for me and for friends/family who are there while the client is getting her hair and makeup done.

More views of the hair and makeup station. I’m thinking of getting a new rug. I think I need something lighter colored. This old rug doesn’t seem to match my new space very well.

This corner with the chaise is also a set used for photography. This happens to be my dog’s favorite spot to sleep while my client is in hair and makeup. Haha! I LOVE the vaulted ceiling on this side of the room.

Now, going through the door that is to the right of the chaise, you’ll find my studio wardrobe closet, which is also a dressing room, and the half bathroom.   My clients used to have to go downstairs in to the main part of my house to use the bathroom so it’s really nice to have a dedicated bathroom in the studio. The tray of supplies seen below is sort of like an emergency supply for my clients to use. I have nail polish remover, mouth wash, lotion, makeup remover (for those who are surprising their husbands with a boudoir shoot and can’t come home looked all glammed up), wrinkle remover (for clothing, not for faces, haha), and scissors. I also have some granola bars for if they get hungry.

This is the view from the “old” space, looking in to the new space through the gorgeous french doors (which I do plan to use for photos, yay!) Next is the view of the older space where you can see the queen bed and the computer station. In the far corner is a props closet.

beauty photography portland oregon

Next to the window is where I store and use my poly-board backdrops and reflectors. That table along the wall is there as a leftover from my Grand Reopening. But I couldn’t move it because I’m using it to hide all the paint supplies which we can’t put away until we finish our paint touch ups. Haha!

This is where I store all my props. I also have a mini fridge full of drinks that I can offer my clients when they come for their shoots.

And that’s all, folks!   But I just thought I’d end by showing some photos of my old space when I had everything crammed in to the one room.   Back then, I spent more time moving furniture around between shots than I did taking photos during the shoots!   Not shown here is my old “viewing and ordering room” which was in a bedroom downstairs. Since I now have room to move all that up to the studio, I get to use that bedroom as a crafting room. Bonus!!!

boudoir photography portland oregon

I just held a super fun Grand Reopening party to celebrate the new space. You can check out photos from that here.

Thanks for taking my studio tour! I hope you like my new space. If you’d like to come check it out and do a portrait shoot of your own, just contact me and I’d love to go over details with you!
